TVIH members are fortunate to have an accomplished artist, Irma Yolanda Debarac, to teach us how to draw with pencil.
Yolanda was a graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Cali, Colombia. After graduation, Yolanda studied many years in workshops for oil painting, printing, etching, and engraving. Yolanda's art works were sold in art galleries and exhibited at Luis Angel Arango Library in Bogota, Columbia, First Women Exhibit in Kuwait, and Finger Lakes (NY) Summer Exhibit.
Yolanda will offer 3 free classes (10/6, 11/7, 1/8/2026) for beginners to learn pencil drawing. If there is interest among students in learning how to paint with charcoal or oil, regular art classes will be offered in 2026.
The still life that we will draw are: a vase with flowers, a fruit bowl with fruits and a bowl of soup with bread.
The supplies you need: HB #2 pencil, eraser, and sketch/drawing paper.
You could buy your supplies at Michaels or Staples. A beginner's sketch pad of 100 pages is $8.00. Our teacher recommends a sketch pad so that you can monitor your progress.
